Charles Moster

CO-FOUNDER + LITIGATION CHAIR EMERITUS

Charles Moster is a third generation entrepreneur. As an attorney he devoted his practice to the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial business transactions, bankruptcy, and in litigation. As Senior Partner, he oversaw and was involved with all of the firm’s legal work in order to advocate the strategic use of risk management. This focus helped clients avoid unnecessary litigation and helped guide decision-making. Charlie recently opened a separate practice in Lubbock, TX but is available to MWR Legal clients who could benefit from his experience.

Mr. Moster is an accomplished advisor and tactician with over 22 years of experience balancing strategic objectives with clients' finite financial resources and stringent corporate requirements. Since his tenure with the General Counsel Office of the Commerce Department he has been involved in 100’s of cases and has represented acquisition and investment entities, software and hardware technology companies, government municipalities and agencies, construction companies, packaged goods and manufacturing companies, commercial and residential development firms, architects, restaurant and hospitality firms, management companies, e-commerce businesses and other clients throughout the country and the world.

Mr. Moster spent the first half of his career as a litigation and bankruptcy attorney for the United States Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. and had the privilege of representing the government in numerous precedent setting cases including the LTV Steel case in New York and the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel case in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Moster formulated and successfully argued the first bankruptcy case in the country on behalf of a creditor, which held that post-petition tax liens were in violation of the automatic stay, and thus void. He also served as a litigation and bankruptcy attorney for the Economic Development Administration where he was charged with the liquidation of a government loan portfolio in excess of $800 million dollars.

Mr. Moster has also represented lenders and lessors in many of the largest cases litigated in the United States, including Macy's, Jamesway, F & M Drugstores, MJDesigns, and most recently Saks Inc.

Mr. Moster is a recipient of the Texas Bar Foundation Fellowship (2000) and of the U.S. Department of Treasury Certificate of Award for Distinction in Credit Management (1989), one of the highest awards offered by the federal government, in honor of his successful disposition of assets in excess of half a billion dollars.

Mr. Moster received his Juris Doctorate from Temple University, and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts degree from San Diego State University. He is admitted to practice law in Texas and the following federal courts: Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
