MWR Neutral Mediation

The neutral mediator faces the challenge of guiding parties in potentially tense situations to agreements that lead to productive solutions.  The mediator must facilitate communication between the parties, assist them in focusing on the real issues of the dispute, and generate options that meet the interests and needs of all relevant parties in an effort to resolve the conflict.

Melanie Cogburn is a certified mediator and thirteen year litigator. For two and a half years she enjoyed the rare experience of working as staff attorney for the Honorable Judge Dietz, the Presiding Judge of Travis County.  In that role she saw cases tried and argued, and had a bird's eye view of how judges and jurors made decisions.

Melanie's personality is uniquely suited to serve as mediator- clients have consistently noted how she is able to adjust the tone and method of communication to create effective dialogue, leading to productive and mutually satisfying resolutions.  Melanie describes herself as "aggressively intuitive" and rather than simply shuttling numbers back and forth she leads a mediation practice that focuses on creativity, cogent legal analysis, validation of the parties' experience in the litigation process, and supports business solutions and builds relationships.

As with all of MWR Legal's services, Ms. Cogburn's mediation services are offered at a cost-effective rate, with flexibility for those engaged in disputes.  We can offer the following discounted rates:

Half Day: $350/party
Six Hours: $525/party
Full Day: $700/party

Each scheduled mediation includes up to two hours preparation studying materials.  Additional hours are billed at $200/hr.
